Introduction
Welcome to the site! The main purpose of the site is using the Audiograbber ripper in detail and this mainly centres on using external codecs with said application.
If I refer to testing this is basic blind testing with someone else playing the files and I pick the one that I think sounds best. I have not carried out abx testing but hope to learn to do so as part of putting this site together.
I am not going to recommend what codec you should use and I now know what suits me after a couple of years of encoding. What's good for my ears may not necessary be good for yours and I certainly don't worry about it anymore! I advise encoding a number of tracks with the various codecs and give them a listen. Choose from a range of genres as well!
I don't profess to be an expert and just discussing what I have learnt and experienced.
Please contact me if you have any comments, corrections or suggestions (polite please!) regarding these pages. If you need assistance you can on the Audiograbber Forums (see links) where I post as "Tomb".
Latest Updates/News 27/09/2006 - Lame 3.97 final has been released and in this version the presets have been replaced by highly tuned switches. I will update the arguments pages within the next week. |
