It looks like we have come to the end of the line with the Soup Kitchen.

Trying to run a regular club night amongst all the gigs we are putting on (three in May alone!) means that it has fallen down the wayside in our list of priorities. It was a shame as it was a good idea but there are also a number of clubs in London playing the same types of music.

Who knows it may re-appear for the odd one off special but in the meantime head to Lost Music for our other activities.

Thanks to all those who came to the nights!

Firstly, thanks to those that came down to the Lostmusic Presents the Soup Kitchen night on Saturday. We had a wonderful time and all four bands were simply brilliant. As was the disco afterwards where Exeter Goes Pop! played the finest indiepop sounds. I've uploaded a whole load of photos to Flickr - here. It was one of those nights that spiralled brilliantly into drunkenness and as the night became the morning - we stumbled out of the venue at 4am in such a happy state. A truly wonderful evening. Like I said at the top - thanks to all that made it so, the venue, the bands and the people watching the bands. Top stuff.

The Bridport Dagger

The next Soup Kitchen night has been confirmed for Saturday 2nd February 2008 and will take place at The Grosvenor in Stockwell. It's not too far from the Brixton Jamm.

This will be the first Soup Kitchen night that features bands. When the bands finish the Soup Kitchen Club will take place with guest DJ's from Exeter Goes Pop. The club will be free entry for all those watching the bands and for anyone joining after 11pm - the club will run to the early hours of the morning.

Smokers Die Younger

Coming down from Sheffield for a rare London show we have Smokers Die Younger who have been described as an astounding, soul-embracing band you dreamed you were discovering throughout your teenage years.

Dýrðin

Coming over all the way from Iceland for a whirlwind visit. This is their only London show of their brief stay. There are only 300,000 people who live in Iceland, 80% believe in elves. Dýrðin brings the mythologies of elves, comic book heroes and Star Trek to life with their edgy pop.

Champion Kickboxer

Again from Sheffield we have another great little band, this being Champion Kickboxer. Their recent EP - 'Candle Power' has been a firm favourite these past few months. A feast of beautifully organic pop music a little like the Super Furry Animals with great vocal harmonies and a melancholic air that drifts through all the songs. A must see band.

The Bridport Dagger

"The Bridport Dagger are a bass-less 3-piece who craft darkly hypnotic songs that conjure up images of the past without ever falling into the realms of nostalgia" so says Maps magazine.

Tickets are £5 on the door or advance tickets are just £4 from We Got Tickets.

The next Soup Kitchen night is scheduled for the 2nd February 2008. A bit different this time as there will also be bands on the bill. The line up and guest dj's are being finalised and details will be posted once all is confirmed. However it is envisaged that there will be free entry as usual to the club for those paying to see the bands and for all those coming after the bands have finished (11pm).
